July at Oru Space
Taking Joy in the Journey.
Hello from Vibushan, welcome to our July Newsletter (yes, i know it’s late…it’s been a BUSY month 😅)
Collective action- what iz it? It’s when you are all bringing something different to the mission and working together to ensure the mission is being achieved. It’s the bringing something different bit that most people balls up. We don’t always need to agree on the method, it’s the destination and taking some joy in the journey, which I try and remember.
My hot tip for people wanting to create change: make a vision, get some people you vibe with together, tear up the vision, set a new vision, make sure everyone is doing their bit and not being passive in achieving the vision, then the hardest bit - have faith, you’ve done the work, you might not end up with what you wanted but it MIGHT be better, so keep going…
At Oru, we couldn’t achieve much without it, and it’s something we’re good at. We are getting seriously good at it. A group of 5 of us are working hard on Oru El Saltador, our third site. And in 4 months we have:
Finalised purchase agreement, deposit paid
Raised 75% of the money to purchase
Created a vision that we expect to outlast all of us - heal the land and, in turn (we hope), heal us
Built a brand new brand
Designed a wonderful new website
First retreat is LIVE, AND 50% sold within 2 weeks!
Hired an exceptional first person to work on-site
Created a land management plan
Booked two private hires of the site (with another 4 in discussion)
Planning the next 4 retreats
The possibilities feel exponential. The MOST exciting bit…. it’s collective! The collective of our little WhatsApp group of investors and advisors, has exploded to 36 of us now.
The really cool thing is we’ve only used around 25% of our time each, so over four months, the equivalent of just 1.25 persons have done all this. Could 1.25 persons ever do all this in four months? I think not… even with AI.
The last opportunity to be a direct investor and a named shareholder on Companies House is coming VERY soon, as we are launching the crowdfunding campaign. On the positive side, crowdfunding allows you to invest much smaller amounts in Oru El Saltador!
✨Speaking of collective action, women’s FOOTBALL has been really exciting this year. Can we stop comparing women’s football to men’s football? It’s far more enjoyable in MANY ways…. BETTER sportsmanship, fewer fouls, much less diving, much less swearing in the pubs, less hostile, fewer pricks and the games have been incredible to watch and let’s face it, they are way better under pressure than the men’s team. ✨⚽️
A wonderful example of collective action: REEL South. Last Friday, we hosted a networking evening on our rooftop in Sutton for South London creatives. Creativity is not exclusive and isn’t solely for young people, embracing creativity allows us to find solutions for our problems that surround us and within. Congrats to Rise Media and Bee from Juice Design for getting this going, we pulled in 60 people to the Trinco Sutton Rooftop for it! From ALL over South London. Excited to see where this goes, did someone say CREATIVE INCUBATOR?
At Oru, Trinco is always where my heart is. I don’t know how these chefs do it day in day out. The innovation that happens in a kitchen is like nowhere else. Murruku and burrata, I doubt you’ve eaten anything like it.

Oru El Saltador: Collective Motion, Bold Action.
Collective Action is the reason why we have nearly raised all the investment needed to purchase Oru El Saltador. Over the past 5 months, we have been working really hard, and we now have a brand new website dedicated to Oru El Saltador. Check it out below and register your interest in the crowdfunder.
A Shared Earth: Biodiversity at Oru
As we move through the height of summer, we are so excited to be rewarded with a full, blooming garden on our rooftop in Sutton! From courgettes, to grapes to cherries, we continue to see growth each day! Greta, our community gardener, harvested our first cherries on the roof this month, and she wrote a few words about it:
‘The garden is in full bloom, and nature is rewarding us with its sweetest gifts. Today marked a special moment: I harvested the first cherries! Growing on a rooftop presents its own unique set of challenges, including intense sun and wind, as well as limited soil depth. But that only makes each harvest more meaningful; every berry is a small triumph of resilience.
Each fruit is a little celebration, a reminder of the care, patience, and love we pour into the soil. It's always a joy to witness the changes happening in the garden, and the whole space transforms with the seasons.
These moments connect us deeply with the rhythm of the earth, the richness of biodiversity, and the quiet magic of growth. The garden is buzzing with life, from pollinators dancing in the blossoms to the warm sun ripening every growing thing. Summer is truly a time of abundance and gratitude.’
Our next venture, Oru El Saltador, is situated on 81 Acres of Andalusian land and will allow us to explore Biodiversity like never before. This will be an opportunity to foster deep connections with land and purpose. We will be running permaculture and impact programmes, giving guests an opportunity to immerse themselves in land restoration, re-wilding and building a thriving biodiverse habitat.
Events rooted in Connection and Community
What a month! July at Oru was packed with incredible events, from intimate wedding dinners and private hen party yoga sessions to big family reunions, buzzing corporate summer parties, vintage markets, creative networking nights, writing workshops, and more.
July was bursting with connection, creativity, and celebration. We even hosted a sold-out Inspired Conversation on ADHD that filled the room with insights, energy, and deep reflection.
Stay tuned for more Inspired conversations coming your way! Next up, we’re thrilled to welcome back one of our incredible members, Dr Hannah Brownlee. She’ll be revisiting her powerful talk on Quantum Physics, Healing and Spirituality, first shared with us last November.
If you missed it the first time, don’t miss out again; it’s a truly thought-provoking topic. Plus, Hannah will be diving even deeper into this fascinating topic later this year!
As we step into August, we have some other great events to share with you guys! In Dulwich, we’re kicking off with a coffee tasting event. We will be joined by Will from Calm Coffee, a roastery that specialises in making good-tasting and good-quality half-caf and decaf coffee. If you have ever considered lowering your caffeine consumption or if you want to know more about decaf and half-caf coffee, then this event is for you! If that doesn’t entice you, maybe the fact that it will finish with a complementary espresso martini- either caffeinated or not- might!
In Sutton, we are holding a magical mixer and speed dating event on the same day, Friday the 8th of August (The Lionsgate Portal!). Cosmic Connection is for singles looking to connect with intention. Led by relationship therapist Dr Sabah Khan, we present to you a cosmic speed dating evening full of fun activities and a chance to explore dating archetypes with Sabah! Come as your most magnetic self!
Our First EVER Retreat at Oru El Saltador!
We are so excited to announce that we have launched our first-ever retreat on the Oru El Saltador site, and booking is now open to the public! Join Miri, Mel, and the Oru team from January 17th to 22nd for our New Year Yoga and Breathwork Retreat. This retreat will be the soft launch of our amazing new site in Southern Spain, as we welcome you to come and enjoy the quiet, beauty and tranquillity of the Sierra De Alhama mountains.
This 5-day retreat is designed to help you land softly and intentionally into 2026. Each day will be a blend of energising, nourishing yoga practices, powerful and releasing breathwork practices, meditation, journaling, delicious organic food, walks in nature, and plenty of quiet time to reflect and rest. We’ll also plan a trip to the beach with a beautiful coastal walk, a New Year’s intention setting ceremony and sound bath, and enjoy local walks in nature. What better a way to step into the new year?

We are going to be celebrating our efforts at the end of the month so that we can all come together and share our experiences over a drink! See you in the studio.
There are so many exciting things happening at Trinco. From our lunch specials that, where we can, are made with fresh produce from our rooftop garden in Sutton. To Trinco Dulwich, where we have some seriously delicious and exciting new arrivals to our evening menu, like the Courgette & Salted Ricotta Fritters, deep-fried until crispy and served with yoghurt, lemon and more mint. They are intensely flavoured and REALLY hard to stop eating. OR The Smoked Leek and Mascarpone Samosas! The Leeks are smoked in-house over hickory wood chips and jaggery, then combined with sautéed shallots, garlic, chillies, creamy mascarpone, and a touch of cheddar for added richness and a hint of that satisfying stringiness. Served with a house-made tamarind ketchup. If you haven’t been down to Trinco in Dulwich recently to try our evening menu, take a visit, you won’t be disappointed, and the Coconut Margarita is back-if you needed convincing…
Courgettes, Courgettes, Courgettes!
Courgettes – we have harvested SO MANY courgettes this month at Oru. To be specific, we have harvested 40kg worth! The kitchen has been so creative with ways to incorporate them into their menu, from our daily specials to our delicious new Courgette & Freekeh Salad! It’s been amazing to see such an abundant harvest turned into vibrant, seasonal dishes that reflect our commitment to fresh, locally grown produce.
Join an Actual Community
At Oru, Co-Working means more to us than just providing people a place to work. It’s the free meditation classes every Wednesday and Friday, so you can reset after a stressful morning. It’s the lunch specials, available at an exclusive price to members, so you don’t have to compromise on having a delicious, nourishing meal for lunch. And most importantly, it’s the community that has been created here. From Toastie Tuesdays to Members Drinks- there are so many opportunities to foster real connections with other members of the community, and it’s really special for us to be able to facilitate that.
This month, we are running a really exciting Co-Working Offer with limited availability. Are you new to Oru? This one’s for you…we’re offering 50% off your first month of coworking – exclusively for new members. First come, first served. Join our members’ community here at Oru.
P.S: A robot did not write this newsletter. Seriously, none of it. We’re THAT good.
