New Year Fitness, Pilates & Yoga Retreat with Raie
Join Raie for this fun, vibrant and rejuvenating new year retreat and kick start your year positively! Expect a wonderful blend of many movement disciplines - strength training, fitness and circuits, pilates, yoga, pre and post natal specific work for anyone needs it, and targeted 1-1 PT sessions for all guests!
Morning will begin with a bang - we'll work hard, build up a sweat and challenge ourselves. Afterwards we'll refuel with a big plentiful breakie, before spending time relaxing, reading, dipping in the pool, strolling around the amazing landscape and local trails, taking naps, getting a massage, and chatting to new friends. Evenings will be restorative and relaxing - including yin yoga, gentle slow flow yoga, meditation and mobility. 3 delicious veggie meals per day are included, and at Oru El Saltador, we work with incredible local chefs who are passionate about plant-rich, colourful, nourishing seasonal food that nourish us from the inside out. The menu is designed with care and approved by our Oru nutritionist to make sure it is nutritionally balanced whilst still being totally delicious! We'll be arranging two optional excursions throughout the retreat so you can get out there and enjoy the local delights of Andalusia. There will also be massage treatments available to those who would like!

Off-grid Living
Off-grid Living
Nestled in the heart of the Andalusian desert, our retreat centre is completely off-grid - and we think that's something worth celebrating.
We run entirely on solar energy, we have our own water supply, and we reduce our footprint wherever possible. There are no mains connections here, no hum of the national grid, no endless supply of resources on tap. What there is, is something rarer: a genuine invitation to slow down, consume less, and reconnect with the natural rhythms of the land.
What this means in practice
The desert is a place of abundance and scarcity in equal measure. The sun gives us everything we need to power our days, but we ask guests to be mindful of how they use that energy, turning off lights when leaving a room, avoiding charging devices overnight, and embracing the quiet that comes when screens are set aside.
Water here is precious. We ask everyone to take shorter showers, turn off taps fully, and treat every drop with the same respect the land itself demands. During drier periods, supplies can run low, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation when they do. Many guests tell us that the off-grid nature of the retreat becomes one of the most meaningful parts of their stay. There is something quietly powerful about living within limits, about noticing how little you actually need, and how much more present you become when the usual conveniences fall away.
This is a place to unplug in every sense of the word. To remember what it feels like to live lightly.

Alex is a passionate cyclist having first taken it up competitively in his teens, racing for Lambeth in the London Youth Games and at the famous Herne Hill Velodrome. Alex can still be seen riding and racing at the Velodrome. He is also a trustee for the Herne Hill Velodrome Trust, the charity that runs the iconic venue today.
When not cycling Alex is usually found rebalancing and resetting in one of Oru’s many yoga classes, having been a Oru member since day 1. In addition to spending as much time as he can outdoors cycling, Alex works with individuals supporting them cultivate a deeper relationship with the natural world as a way of building resilience, agency and supporting them bring their most authentic selves into their work.
Alex and Chris have been riding together for years having first met over 20 years and then again at a yoga class at Oru.

Stevie began practicing yoga in a Sivananda ashram in 2001 and graduated as a Power Yoga teacher in 2014. Now a Senior Yoga Teacher with the YOGA PROS, Stevie teaches a vinyasa style of yoga derived from the ancient Astanga tradition which co-ordinates dynamic movement with the breath. Group classes are often heated (28-32C) to allow students to get deeper into the poses whilst reducing the risk of injury. Each asana practice is a full body workout so be prepared to sweat, but equally students are invited to rest as often as required. Stevie is also a qualified Meditation & Mindfulness Teacher.
Yoga for cyclists is designed for cyclists but is a great full body workout for anyone - a well-rounded practice that will leave you feeling present, stretched out and open. On our retreat, in the morning we’ll offer a dynamic Power Up class to stimulate the cardio-vascular system, increase lung capacity and energise the muscles. Designed to relieve tension in the neck, loosen the shoulders, open up the chest and engage core. Later in the day, we’ll slow things down with a more relaxed Warm Down sequence offering longer holds to release lower, mid & upper back, lengthen hamstrings and stretch out the hips.
