Autumn Yoga Retreat

At Oru El Saltador with Sammy Rainbow Furnival

This retreat is an invitation to slow down and take time to explore yoga in its fuller depth, both on and off the mat. Mornings will begin with pranayama, followed by asana, weaving together vinyasa and hatha practices to build strength, steadiness and awareness. Evenings will offer a gentler rhythm, with meditation, yin and guided journaling to support rest, reflection and integration.

Each day we’ll explore a new philosophical theme, introduced within the physical practice and then gently unpacked through conversation and reflection, looking at how these teachings can be meaningfully woven into everyday life. Afternoons will include optional sangha gatherings, creating space to come together for open discussion around the spiritual and philosophical foundations of yoga and how they land for each of us individually.

This retreat offers a chance to dive beneath the surface of yoga, experiencing a range of practices while also exploring the wisdom that underpins them. It is a space for inquiry, curiosity and connection.

Nothing on the retreat is mandatory and you are encouraged to listen inwardly and follow what you feel called to, trusting your own rhythm throughout the experience! Whilst all are welcome on this retreat, we recommend having attended one of Sammy's classes here at Oru first and that you aim to have a minimum of 6 months experience attending yoga classes.

Off-grid Living

Off-grid Living

Nestled in the heart of the Andalusian desert, our retreat centre is completely off-grid - and we think that's something worth celebrating.

We run entirely on solar energy, we have our own water supply, and we reduce our footprint wherever possible. There are no mains connections here, no hum of the national grid, no endless supply of resources on tap. What there is, is something rarer: a genuine invitation to slow down, consume less, and reconnect with the natural rhythms of the land.

What this means in practice

The desert is a place of abundance and scarcity in equal measure. The sun gives us everything we need to power our days, but we ask guests to be mindful of how they use that energy, turning off lights when leaving a room, avoiding charging devices overnight, and embracing the quiet that comes when screens are set aside.

Water here is precious. We ask everyone to take shorter showers, turn off taps fully, and treat every drop with the same respect the land itself demands. During drier periods, supplies can run low, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation when they do. Many guests tell us that the off-grid nature of the retreat becomes one of the most meaningful parts of their stay. There is something quietly powerful about living within limits, about noticing how little you actually need, and how much more present you become when the usual conveniences fall away.

This is a place to unplug in every sense of the word. To remember what it feels like to live lightly.

Where you’ll stay

Oru El Saltador, Almeria, Southern Spain

Oru Space’s off-grid retreat centre

  • Nestled in the gentle hills of the Sierra Alhamilla in Almeria, Spain, lies Oru El Saltador. It is located at the crossroads of the Tabernas Desert and the wild beauty of the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park.

  • You will need to book your own flights for this retreat. For this retreat we recommend flying to and from Almeria airport. There is also the option to fly to Murcia but please note that it is a longer drive to this airport (roughly 2 hours). Granada is also 2 hours away for additional flight options.

If you want to spend a little longer in the area, or extend your trip, we really recommend this - there’s so much to enjoy in the area!

Once at either airport, we will arrange taxi transfers to collect you (this will be an additional cost) or you are welcome to hire a car if you wish. Almeria airport is 45 minutes drive away, Murcia is 1 hour 45 minutes away.

  • Once you have chosen your airport of choice, we can help arrange taxi transfers for you direct to the venue.

    Almeria - 45 minute drive

    Murcia - 1 hour 45 minute drive

    Granada - 2 hour drive

If you'd like a no-fly option, we recommend checking out seat61.com to plan an over-land route. To get from London to Almeria via train you can plan one or two overnight stays in South of France, Madrid or Barcelona!
