Oru 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training - Spain & London

June - August 2027

Led by Sammy Rainbow Furnival and guest teachers

More than just a certificate: an investment in who you're becoming!

Our training is built on a simple belief: becoming a yoga teacher is a profound act of personal development, and teaching others well is a craft in its own right. At Oru, you'll grow as a person and as a practitioner, and you'll also learn the specific, teachable skills of holding space, reading a room, sequencing with intention, and finding your own authentic voice as a teacher.

Our ethos: no dogma, just depth

There is no one way with yoga. We strip out the dogma and instead ask you to bring your critical thinking and your curiosity. You'll ask questions. You'll experience things for yourself, on your mat, in your body, before you're ever asked to teach them to someone else. That's what it means to teach from an embodied place, something we value highly at Oru.

We believe the practice should be accessible, to different bodies, different backgrounds, different reasons for showing up. And we believe teachers carry a responsibility to understand where this practice comes from. So we go deep into yoga's roots, and we don't shy away from the harder conversations: what's the line between cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation? How do we honour a lineage while teaching in a modern context? You'll leave with a grounded understanding of the philosophy and texts that shape yoga today, not as abstract theory, but as living context for how and why you teach.

And when it comes to anatomy and asana, we deliberately leave aesthetics and performance at the door. We won't be optimising for how a pose looks. We'll explore the body through a different lens entirely: one of wonderment, functionality, strength, empowerment, and appreciation for how our bodies move and express themselves.

What makes this training different

Small by design: We keep our groups intentionally small, so learning is specialised and intimate rather than generic. You'll be seen, questioned, supported, and pushed, not lost in a crowd.

Hybrid: So you get the best of both. The course blends 11 intensive training days at our beautiful retreat centre in southern Spain Oru El Saltador, with London weekends onsite at both Oru Dulwich and Oru Sutton, giving you the immersive depth of a residential-style intensive alongside the rhythm and flexibility of weekend study you can build your life around.

Spaces designed for learning: Where you learn shapes how you learn. Our lectures take place in our Sutton town hall and our Dulwich workspace, rooms designed for engagement and focus. Teaching practice happens in our wellness studios, perfect for practising and refining your craft.

What you'll study

Philosophy: the ideas and texts that give yoga its foundation

Anatomy: the body through the lens of function, strength and wonder, not aesthetics

Sanskrit and yoga's roots: honouring where this practice comes from

The art of teaching: finding your authentic voice as a teacher

Sequencing and theming: building classes with intention and intelligence

Holding space: the skill of creating an environment where people can show up as they are

Who this is for

If you're drawn to yoga teacher training because you want to deepen your own practice and you take seriously the responsibility of guiding others, this is for you. Come curious, and come ready to question. Leave equipped to teach from a place that's authentically your own!
