8th - 14th March 2025

Sri Lanka Yoga + Adventure Retreat

Join Georgie, Miriam and the Oru team for a magical adventure and yoga retreat in stunning Sri Lanka! Taking place from 8th - 14th March 2025, you are invited to experience the magic of this incredible culture and country whilst deepening your yogic practices, getting plenty of relaxation and rest, and making new friendships and connections.

Sri Lankan food, culture and community values have influenced Oru Space greatly, and we’re so excited to be taking you on an adventure to this incredible country.

Each day will begin with a mix of creative dynamic vinyasa, breathwork, embodied flow, meditation and journaling, and there will be plenty of free time to swim, sunbathe, read, kayak, paddle board and explore the area. In the evenings we’ll offer a mix of yin and restorative yoga, healing sound baths and dreamy yoga nidra.

There will be opportunities to get out into nature, explore hikes and walks, paddle board on the lake, or visit local shrines and tea plantations. This is truly such a special country to visit and the perfect time of year to be there too!

Whilst all levels of experience are welcome and catered for, we recommend having at least 6 months experience of regular yoga practice in order to get the most out of the retreat. You are welcome to come alone or with friends, our Oru retreats are always about community and meeting like minded people, so if that’s what you’re looking for then come and join us.

  • Rukgala is our small (boutique!) yoga and wellness-focused centre on the shores of the Victoria Lake near Kandy. The property is built out of an old private house and has been added to a little to give some really comfortable rooms and great chill spaces to relax in a gorgeous setting.

More than the built spaces, though, we’re about offering a unique and refreshing experience of Sri Lanka in a beautiful and still quiet part of the island. We’re mostly about warm welcomes, good food, great yoga and (for those that want) some easy adventure.

  • There are lots of options for local experiences, from swimming in waterfalls, learning how to make a Sri Lankan curry, hiking surrounded by paddy fields and tea plantations near the Knuckles Mountain range with views as far as the horizon goes, and cultural trips to nearby tea plantations and towns.

All activities are optional, if you’d rather relax by the pool or enjoy walks in the local area then you are more than welcome to! Activities will be paid for as an additional expense on top of your retreat payment.

  • The food at Welikande Estate is fresh, mostly plant-based and delicious, with a nice blend of western cuisine with authentic Sri Lankan flavours and dishes. Food will be vegetarian and colourful, great for your health and plentiful!

Our menus are flexible enough to accommodate any additional dietary requirements, please let us know upon reservation.

  • We recommend flying to Colombo with a day or two either side of the trip (at least!) so you can acclimatise to the new time zone and climate before the retreat starts. Flights from London to Colombo are regular, the only airline that flies direct are Sri Lankan Airlines. You must secure your own travel insurance for this retreat.

Once in Colombo/Negombo we can help arrange a taxi transfer for you, it takes roughly 3 hours to drive from the airport to the retreat centre.

To enter Sri Lanka, your passport must have an ‘expiry date’ at least 6 months after the day you arrive.

Sri Lanka temporarily suspended the online visa (eVisa) application system on 2 August 2024. However you still need to have a visa to enter Sri Lanka, you can obtain a visa on arrival to Sri Lanka at the port of entry.

You can also complete your online arrival form up to 3 days before you arrive. The service is free and may save time on arrival.

Tourist visas are normally valid for 30 days. If you overstay your visa the police could issue a fine or detain you. If you want to extend your stay, contact the Immigration and Emigration department.

Teachers

  • Georgie is an international yoga teacher/student, big rest activist and passionate about living life more harmoniously with nature. She comes with a mission to sprinkle some magic and joy into your day. When life moves quickly, it's difficult to notice the beauty right in front of us; join Georgie in the slow lane for a balancing yin-yang practice, the opportunity to reawaken the senses, to hear the soul sing and come home to ourselves. Through the wisdom of yoga, she aims to guide you deeper within; to notice, feel and experience the magic of you.

  • For Miriam, yoga is so much more than a movement practice. It is a transformative life practice that helps you form a deeper sense of connection with your body, your mind, your consciousness and your energy, and in turn with the world around you. Miriam’s intention is to teach this practice in a warm, inclusive and curious way, that empowers you to tune into your inner world and feel what’s best for you - moment to moment.

In Miriam’s classes you can expect to be challenged, encouraged and guided through thoughtful, contemplative sequences that weave together asana, philosophy, breathwork and embodiment. She is endlessly curious about anatomy, the nervous system and neuroscience, quantum physics and energy, and the power of movement and mindfulness to shift our state. You will find all of these influences present in her teaching, as well as light hearted reminders to not take it all too seriously!
